Rimbey RCMP investigate fatal motor vehicle collision

Indication that a pick-up truck collided with a bridge guardrail and rolled into the river.

On the morning of May 18 at 9:43 a.m., the Rimbey RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision on Township Road 420 near Leedale.

The RCMP investigation indicates that a pick-up truck was eastbound on Township Road 420 when it collided with a bridge guardrail and rolled into the river. The sole occupant of the truck, a 31-year-old male, was located in the river and determined deceased.

RCMP Air Services and the Ponoka County Fire Department conducted a search of the river and surrounding area to establish that there were no other vehicle occupants.

The investigation into the cause of the collision remains ongoing, however no further updates from the RCMP will be provided.
