Our club has been very busy and the season is moving right along.
On Nov. 30, our club hosted regional fun day. It consisted of dodge ball at the Wetaskiwin Composite High School. Many of our members participated in this event and had an absolute blast! Surprisingly no one was injured.
At our December meeting our club collected donations and packed seven backpacks for Neighbours Outreach Wetaskiwin (NOW). These backpacks are filled with essential items for our community in need.
Throughout December are club also enjoyed a fun day swimming at the Manluk Centre.
On Jan. 26, we had our club's public speaking. What a great job by all our members. In first place for our Juniors was Evelyn Moseson, and in second place was Autumn Hanson. Winners for Intermediate: first place Taecee Thompson, and second place Grace Trautman. Senior winners: first place Joanna Szigli and second place Wyatt Archer. Congratulations to all our public speakers.
On Jan. 31, we planned a club learning day. Our club got to experience touring a state of the art facility at Prairie Farm Foods. Tim Hofer gave an informative and engaging tour of the butchering facility. We appreciate the time you took to answer our questions and share your knowledge about the processes and technologies involved.
Our club also had the opportunity to tour McLanes Meats and enjoyed seeing multiple facets, from hanging/aging, cutting, wrapping, curing and smoking. We truly appreciate your time and the opportunity to learn more about your business. We also go to enjoy some tasty treats.
Our tours were not only educational but also gave us a deeper appreciation for the work that goes into providing quality meat.
We will be busy over the next few months preparing for our Achievement Day that will be held on May 12 at the Wetaskiwin Ag Grounds, show starting at 8:30 a.m., and sale at 2:30 p.m. Stay tuned for details to come.
