The Town of Millet recently purchased a brand new fully electric zamboni ice re-surfacer that will be put into service during the next ice season at the Millet Agriplex. The town was able to make the purchase with the assistance of the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre (MCCAC) Electric Vehicles for Municipalities program.

Millet will now be able to switch out their aging gas powered ice re-surfacer with the new zamboni.

“Switching to an electric vehicle allows the reduction in environmental impacts and increases the safety of not only our staff but the public we serve”, says Town of Millet Councillor Robin Brooks.

The new machine has an electrical charging station, which will allow for significant annual cost savings for fuel as well as zamboni maintenance.

“Electrifying an ice re-surfacer is a sizeable step towards creating a sustainable community,” says Trina Innes, Executive Director at the Action Centre.

“The Municipal Climate Change Action Centre is happy to see municipalities like the Town of Millet taking advantage of the Electric Vehicles for Municipalities Program.”
