The City of Wetaskiwin is holding strong against COVID-19, with only two active cases in the City itself.

The County of Wetaskiwin, separated from the City on the Government of Alberta’s COVID-19 aggregate data map, currently has zero active cases.

On Tuesday Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, updated the COVID-19 numbers from the long weekend—reporting that Alberta has seen an increase of 961 cases.

Over the long weekend the numbers increased by: 236 on Friday, 259 on Saturday, 246 on Sunday and 220 on Monday.

The City of Wetaskiwin’s mandatory face covering bylaw will not become active until the City reaches a threshold of 15 active cases.

Maskwacis Health Services is reporting a total of 26 active cases with one of those cases being hospitalized.
