Two Parkland County RCMP officers have been charged with dangerous driving while on duty after an investigation launched five years ago was concluded.
A notice was released by Alberta Serious Incident Response Team on April 8. The notice says two officers were seen driving dangerously on Feb. 25, 2020 and an investigation was launched March 5, 2020.
"The evidence gathered during ASIRT’s investigation provided reasonable grounds to believe that an offence had been committed," reads the press release. "As required by the Police Act, the investigation was forwarded to the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service (ACPS) to determine whether the evidence met the standard for prosecution.
"ASIRT’s mandate is to effectively, independently and objectively investigate incidents involving Alberta’s police that have resulted in serious injury or death to any person, as well as serious or sensitive allegations of police misconduct."
The release says ACPS concluded the case met the grounds to lay charges. Charges were formally laid on April 7, 2025.
Const. Debra-Ann Wash and Const. Dorian Tooze are charged with operating a conveyance in a manner that was dangerous to the public. They are scheduled to appear in Stony Plain Court of Justice on May 21.
