Two suspects in Leduc arrested and charged for break and enter to local business

Leduc RCMP were dispatched to the scene of a break and enter in progress at a Leduc area business near Sparrow Drive at approximately 12:45 a.m. on Dec. 13.

At the scene RCMP members and RCMP Police Dog Services observed a suspect running through a ditch in an attempt to evade police. Following a short foot pursuit the suspect was arrested and a second suspect involved was located and arrested a short distance away.

As a result of the investigation Simon John Kurgan, 33, and Branden Dwayne Land, 26, both residents of Leduc are facing multiple charges.

Kurgan has been charged with:

• Break and enter to commit theft;

• Obstructing a Peace Officer;

• And Mischief over $5,000.

Land has been charged with:

• Break and enter to commit theft;

• And Mischief over $5,000.

Following a judicial hearing both Kurgan and Land were released from custody and their next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 5, 2023, in Leduc provincial court.
