UPDATE 2 (Aug 12) — Stage 1 water restrictions have been lifted and the cleanup of the Central Station Reservoir has been completed.

UPDATE 1 (July 19) — Stage 1 water restrictions continue to be in effect and the city states that an additional update on the situation will be provided by end of day Wednesday July 20.

Original Story — The City of Wetaskiwin has implemented a Stage 1 water restriction following a discovery of a contamination in the Central Station reservoir the morning of July 14. The contamination was quickly addressed and the water restriction is anticipated to only be in place for a short amount of time.

Central Station was isolated from the water distribution system to ensure the city’s water supply remains safe for consumption and while the contamination is being addressed city residents are asked to follow Stage 1 water restriction guidelines to reduce strain on the remaining operational lift station, Garden Meadows.
