The Millet Harvest Fair is a free, community event that has been held for many years.

While the longtime-running Millet Harvest Fair is still months away, organizers are currently looking for more vendors to join their market.

The harvest fair, which is slated for Aug. 23 at the Millet Agriplex, has about 25 vendors lined up so far but is looking to at least double that.

"We are hoping for at least 50 vendors this year but have capacity for more," said Candace Jones-Berbue, a volunteer representing the Millet Legion who is in charge of the vendor market for the fair.

Confirmed vendors range from freeze dried candies, homemade items, and fresh baked goods, to health and cleaning products, jewelry and dog treats, said Jones-Berbue.

There will also be some non-profits joining in, including one doing a raffle for a Husqvarna Automower.

Minors are also welcome to have a table in the market as long as they are accompanied by an adult over 18 years of age, said Jones-Berube.

Anyone interested in registering as a vendor can email Jones-Berube at milletharvestfair@gmail.com for an application form.

The Millet Harvest Fair is a town-wide event hosted by the Millet Recreational and Agricultural Society and organized by a planning committee.

The planning committee includes representatives from several local service groups, such as the legion and the Millet Lions Club, and each put on different aspects of the fair.

So far, the schedule of events include an outdoor movie, a parade, circus act, petting zoo, pony rides, laser tag, bouncy castles, archery, trade fair, and food trucks, according to Wendy Crabtree.

Crabtree is the treasurer for the Millet ag society and the head of the planning committee.

"The society has hosted the annual Harvest Fair for more years than I have been a volunteer," said Crabtree.

The outdoor movie is to take place on Friday evening, Aug. 22, at the Millet Lions Campground followed by fireworks, and the parade starts things off at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23.

The parade route will end at the agriplex and recreation grounds where the other activities will be going on until 4 p.m.
