Wetaskiwin will be receiving part of the non-profit funding pie from the provincial government that was announced on Jan. 16.
The Government of Alberta is providing $11.7 million to 226 non-profit organizations this year.
“We are strengthening our vital non-profit sector that improves community spaces and spirit to make sure Alberta continues to be the best province to live, work and raise a family," said Tanya Fir, minister of Arts, Culture and Status of Women, in a press release.
"Alberta’s government is proud to support these projects that have a real impact in the daily life of Albertans.”
Three local organizations will be receiving a total of $70,287 in the 2024-2025 fiscal year.
The Horizons Training Centre Society has been allotted $45,127 for facility upgrades through the Community Facility Enhancement Program.
The Alberta Music Festival Association will be receiving $22,320 to help with its operating costs through the Alberta Foundation for the Arts.
Lastly, $2,840 is being given to the Alberta Music Festival Association in Wetaskiwin from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts.
Though not currently on the list for this round of funding, organizations in the Town of Millet received significant boosts in the 2023-2024 fiscal year.
The Telford Community Club received $49,044 for a facility upgrade, the Millet Fish and Game Association was granted $4,000 for its youth archery program, the Hillside Community Club was given $10,000 for upgrading the Hillside Community Hall and the Cloverlawn Community Centre Association was allotted $18,001 to upgrade the Clover Lawn Community Centre.
