Wetaskiwin RCMP are seeking public assistance in identifying vehicle thieves

At approximately 4:24 a.m., on Dec. 21, 2022, Wetaskiwin RCMP were dispatched to a call of a stolen truck. The victim had video surveillance and watched the suspects take off with the truck from their driveway.

At approximately 4:24 a.m., on Dec. 21, 2022, Wetaskiwin RCMP were dispatched to a call of a stolen truck. The victim had video surveillance and watched the suspects take off with the truck from their driveway.

The next day around 9:15 p.m., the Wetaskiwin RCMP received a report that the stolen truck, a black 2009 Chevrolet Avalanche bearing Alberta license plate CKY 2086, was seen on highway 13 west of Wetaskiwin.

The witnesses followed the stolen vehicle as officers were on route. The suspects noticed they were being followed and started shooting a firearm at the witnesses.

One round from the firearm struck the witness’ windshield and they then backed off while the suspects left the area.

Police are investigating both incidents and are requesting public assistance in identifying the suspects and locating the stolen vehicle.

Suspects are described as:

• Two males

• Driver was wearing a red shirt under a black coat and red shoes

• Passenger was dressed in all black clothing

• Both suspects had coverings over their face
