Wetaskiwin RCMP execute search warrant; illegal drugs seized

Two Wetaskiwin residents have been charged with possession and trafficking of Methamphetamine.

Wetaskiwin RCMP initiated an investigation on the evening of Feb. 8, 2021, under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

During a traffic stop of a vehicle in Wetaskiwin County, two individuals were found to be in possession of Methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia. In addition to the traffic stop a Warrant to Search was executed at a residence in the City of Wetaskiwin.

At the searched residence, a significant amount of Methamphetamine was located and seized.

As a result of the investigation two individuals are facing the following charges:

Patrick Michael Mcauley, 37, of Wetaskiwin has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking Methamphetamine.

Cassandra Ann Smith, 30, of Wetaskiwin has been charged with:

• Possession for the purpose of trafficking Methamphetamine;

• Possession of Methamphetamine;

• And possession of stolen property under $5,000.

Both Mcauley and Smith were brought before a justice of the peace on this matter. Mcayley was released on a $1,000 promise to pay the release order and is scheduled to appear in Wetaskiwin provincial court on March 11, 2021. Smith was released on a $2,000 promise to pay the release order and is scheduled to appear in Wetaskiwin provincial court on March 11, 2021.
