Wetaskiwin RCMP were advised on April 8, 2021, of a reported break in at the Jesus Cares Fellowship Church in the area of Northmount Drive in Wetaskiwin. The break and enter took place in the evening of March 30, 2021.
It remains unknown how access to the church was gained, however, it was later discovered that a base and electrical guitar had been stolen. The two guitars, a black and white Fender base guitar and a black Ibanez electric guitar were valued at over $1,000. A review of the video surveillance obtained at the scene shows that an unidentified person was observed inside the church at approximately 10:30 p.m.
On April 11, 2021 Wetaskiwin RCMP received another call of a break in at the church. At approximately 1:49 a.m. an unidentified person gained entry to the church again and stole a tambourine.
