An Amber Alert in central and southern Alberta has been cancelled after Calgary police located a two-year-old child, who was taken by his mother Thursday afternoon.

At 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, the child was taken by his mom from downtown Calgary, police said. An Amber Alert was issued later that day.

At 10:15 p.m., Calgary Police said the child was safely located.

“More than 70 CPS members were actively involved in the search for (the child) and his mother today,” said police.

“Resources were called in from across our service, including patrol, covert resources, tactical officers, and crisis negotiators, which ultimately led investigators to their location.”

Calgary Police’s Domestic Violence Team is continuing to investigate this abduction.
