Leduc County council has approved a lease of two vehicles for assessment staff.
The expenditure, totalling no more than $5,000 was approved to the 2016 assessment budget during council’s June 26 meeting. Assessment staff operate with a $17,000 budget.
There is a concern of safety for assessment staff in unmarked vehicles as well as the piece of mind for ratepayers.
Coun. Tanni Doblanko made a point to mention the importance of having county decals on the vehicles, as these days people are especially suspicion of strange vehicles entering their yard sites.
Rather than a sixth month rental, a 24-month lease was recommended, as it is expected to be incorporated into future 2017 and 2018 budgets.
