Beaumont RCMP investigate drive by shooting

A suspect vehicle trailed the victim’s vehicle from Edmonton to Beaumont before firing shots.

Beaumont RCMP, RCMP Serious Crimes Unit and RCMP Forensic Identification Section are investigating a drive by shooting in Beaumont.

At approximately 7:45 p.m. on May 27, 2020. Beaumont RCMP responded to a report of a drive by shooting outside a residence in the Montrose Estates area.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that on May 27, a vehicle with several occupants was travelling from Edmonton to Beaumont when the driver noticed a suspicious grey vehicle following theirs.

The vehicle with multiple passengers entered Beaumont city limits and when driving near a residence, the suspicious vehicle pulled up next to the victim’s vehicle and fired shots. The suspect then fled the area.

No one was injured.

Beaumont RCMP searched for the suspect vehicle in the area with assistance from Leduc RCMP and Edmonton Police Air One but were unable to locate the vehicle immediately.

Later a suspect vehicle believed to be involved in this incident was located in the Leduc County area.

Police do not believe this was a random incident.

Beaumont RCMP would like to advise this incident is not linked to a separate incident reported on May 13, 2020 in the Forest Heights area. That incident remains under investigation.

Police are asking anyone who has information about this incident to contact Beaumont RCMP at 780-929-7410. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at or by using the “P3 Tips” app available through the Apple App or Google Play Store.
