Bread recipes to start the New Year

One for the bread maker and one regular recipe

Here is a great recipe for those of you who have a bread maker. Enjoy.

Jalapeno-Cheese Bread (bread machine)

3/4 c Sour Cream

1/4 c Water plus 2 tbsp. water

1 Egg

3 c All-purpose flour

1 1/2 tsp Salt

2 tbsp. Sugar

1/4 tsp Baking soda

1 c Sharp Cheddar Cheese, grated (4 ounces)

3 tbsp. Jalapeno pepper, fresh,-seeded and chopped (about 4)

3 tsp yeast active dry yeast

Bake at 375 f. for 25 - 30 mins. Remove bread from pan, place on cake rack and allow to cool 1 hour before slicing.

This can be made without a bread maker, but it is quite a stiff dough.

Multigrain bread

1 1/2 c. Warm water

3 tbsp. Sugar

1 tsp. Salt

3 tbsp. Oil

3 heaping c. Multi grain flour

2 tsp. Yeast

Mix together and let rise until double. Make into two loaves or buns and let rise again.

Bake at 375 F for 35 mins. Bread and about 25 mins. For buns.

This recipe can be used for white bread too. Just use white flour.
