Trouble came too close to home for the Town of Coronation over the long weekend.

A tornado warning was released by Environment Canada a little after 4 p.m. for the entire East-Central Region of Alberta.

Just after 5 p.m., Coronation resident Leslea Herber looked out her window and witnessed what she later found out to be the second of two tornadoes which touched barely a mile outside of town.

According to reports, the first tornado lasted only a few minutes, but the second stuck around and travelled along the ground for at least five minutes.

The region was also battered with hail around the same time.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada on Aug. 2, no injuries or damage were reported.

While eyewitness accounts indicate that there were two, possibly three, tornadoes that touched down in the region, Environment Canada currently only has a file open on one and are unable to confirm the others.

The rating for the Tornado was EF0, the lowest rating possible and the one least likely to cause damage, though Jesse Wager with Environment Canada notes that a tornado landing in the middle of a field makes it a challenge to accurately rate them.

Anyone who did sustain damage from the tornado are asked to send photos to Environment Canada.

Alberta typically sees 11-14 tornadoes per summer season.
