The Battle River Watershed Alliance (BRWA) hosted its annual paddle day in July, and for 2024 the group took in the Castor Creek.
BRWA board member Greg Smith shared his geological expertise with those in attendance.
The annual Paddle Day took place on July 18 where a media release notes that "BRWA staff, members and friends enjoyed a great day on the water!"
"The paddle was just outside of the Town of Castor on Castor Creek where the group enjoyed the views of exposed cliffsides and grasslands," continues the release.
Along with the media release, the BRWA released a "Castor Creek Paddle Guide" which notes that the creek is a "slow-moving" reservoir and a "hidden gem" worth exploring near the community of Castor.
Animal life expected on the roughly three-hour paddle varies from cliff and bank swallows to many other species of marsh birds and possibly even beavers.
