Falun Outdoor Classic hits the rink Feb. 22

Intense CACA action featuring Augustana Vikings, SAIT Trojans

The weekend of the big Falun Outdoor Classic is getting closer, and hockey fans couldn’t be happier.

This year’s match at the beautiful Falun outdoor rink located on Hwy. #13 right beside Pigeon Lake School, includes two CACA college men’s hockey teams, the Augustana Vikings and SAIT Trojans and runs Sunday, Feb. 22. Game time is 1 p.m.

But organizers of the event, the Pigeon Lake Athletic Cultural Educational Society (PLACE), which operates the outdoor rink, has a plethora of activities planned that day to truly make it a weekend event.

There will be sleigh rides from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Following the game will be dinner and the NHL Alumni hotstove at 5 p.m. at the Falun Community Hall.

Organizers have a number of different ticket options available, starting at $15 per adult or $10 per student; a 10-pack of adult tickets is $120, a 10-pack of student tickets is $80. Children under 5 years are free.

Tickets for the heated VIP viewing area (including game, dinner and hotstove) are $75, tickets for game with dinner and hotstove are $50, and a table for eight people (including game, dinner and hotstove) is $350.

Tickets are on sale now at Coach’s Source for Sports in Wetaskiwin and Falun Co-op on Hwy. #13. If you have questions, contact nbrown@persona.ca.

All proceeds from the game go towards supporting the PLACE society. Please note ticket sales are final, and in the event of inclement weather the game will be played in Wetaskiwin at the Civic Centre.

The event is sponsored by MEI Energy Solutions and Supreme International.
