The Central Alberta Rescue Diving Society is holding a fundraiser next month at Pigeon Lake to help support its Underwater Search Team.

The Underwater Search Team is Alberta's dive team that specializes in evidence and body recovery. Alberta is the only province in Canada without fully funded recovery dive services.

Three years ago, Baker Funeral Chapel hosted an Alberta fundraiser that contributed $38,000 to replace the engine in the UST's responder truck.

This year, Baker's is collaborating with Wallbanger Distillery and Grumpy Pies at Pigeon Lake to help kick off the UST's newly established building fund: "Give Us Shelter".

The group is hoping to raise funds for a building to house vehicles and equipment.

The event, on Saturday, Aug. 9, will go from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Wallbanger Distillery (#1 Highway 13, Westerose, Alberta).

It will feature a 5K fun run, as well as a drop-in yoga session, outdoor games, a silent auction and live music.

The PEP RALLY for the run begins at 8:30 a.m. and takeoff time is at 9 a.m. sharp.

You can register by emailing tuckshop@wallbangerdistillery.com.

For more info on the event, contact Allie at Baker Funeral Chapel in Wetaskiwin (allie@womboldfuneralhomes.com) or check out the Wallbanger Distillery Facebook page for additional info.
