Wetaskiwin RCMP say the home was fully engulfed when crews arrived

Wetaskiwin RCMP are investigating a home fire that claimed the life of a man and woman.

Police say at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday RCMP and the Wetaskiwin City Fire Department were called to the home on 45 Avenue near 54 Street.

“Unfortunately, an 88-year-old female resident, and a 62-year-old male resident were pronounced dead on scene,” states a press release.

There was no one else in the home at the time. No further details have been released related to the home fire.
