Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools has a new face at the board of trustees table.

Parent and former teacher Jennifer Day was elected Nov. 2 according to unofficial results provided by WRPS.

Unofficial results provided after the election stated that the total valid ballots cast was 116; of those, Day received 57, Paula Lamoureax received 32 and Ray Unger 27.

She said, locally, she got very involved when the school board proposed closing the Pipestone School and Lakedell School. Day said she has been and would continue to press the government to alter school funding based on “per capita,” and introduce a subsidy for smaller rural schools.

WRPS pointed out that until noon on Friday November 6 the election results are unofficial.
