Leduc RCMP arrest two in relation to outdoor rink arson

Leduc RCMP have charged two teens with arson related to a fire at an outdoor rink.

RCMP officers began investigating a fire which occurred at the Southfork Outdoor Skating Rink on Jan. 28 around 6:30 p.m.

The fire was quickly put out, but left significant damage to the rink.

Following the investigation done in in tandem with the Leduc Fire Service, the two 16-year-olds were charged arson.

The pair have been released from custody on conditions pending a Leduc Provincial Court Date on Mar. 24.

Due to the age of the youth, their names are not being released.

The RCMP asks the public to report any and all suspicious and criminal activity to your local detachment or police service.

“Reports tell us where to look, who to look for and where to patrol in the future,” said RCMP media relations officer Cst. Cheri-Lee Smith.
