Leduc RCMP conclude month-long warrant roundup

Officers from the Leduc RCMP detachment have had a busy month.

The detachment has just concluded a “month-long crime reduction initiative” targeting those with outstanding arrest warrants in the area.

Members of the Leduc Crime Reduction Unit, along with analyst and administrative support personnel also assisted in the roundup.

Offenders were arrested on a range offences, everything from failing to appear for court to assault to property crime.

Officers executed 59 outstanding warrants, arrested 28 individuals and had over $4,000 in fines paid.

The media release announcing the warrant roundup states that of the charges most were Criminal Code though 20 for charges under the Traffic Safety Act.

“In the process of locating individuals, officers seized a small quantity of cocaine and laid a total of 6 new charges against one of the offenders,” said RCMP public information officer Cheri-Lee Smith, in an email release.
