After a string of small fires recently, the Leduc RCMP is reminding the community to be aware of fire hazards and report suspicious activity.
On April 21, at 8:32 a.m., Leduc RCMP received a report of a small fire that was deliberately set near a dumpster on 47 Street. Emergency Services was successful in putting out the fire with no damage to property.
On May 5, Emergency Services received a report of three garbage cans that had extinguished fires in various locations around Telford Lake along the multiway. There was no damage to property.
On May 10, Emergency Services received a report of an extinguished garbage can fire in Deer Valley park. There was no damage to property.
On May 30, Leduc RCMP received a report of a portable toilet that had been damaged by what appears to have been a deliberately set fire sometime between May 29 and 30, which caused significant damage.
On June 7, Emergency Services responded to a backyard garbage bin fire at a residence that was under renovations in the area of 47 Street and 47 Avenue. The fire was extinguished and there was no property damage.
On June 9, at 10:38 a.m., Emergency Services responded to a poplar fire in the Ravine Villas area. They were able to extinguish the fire and there was no damage to property.
On June 10, at 11 am, Emergency Services responded to a fire at the Telford Lake Observation deck. They were successful in putting out the fire and there was minor damage to the wooden railing and structure.
The cause of these fires is still under investigation.
