On July 13th, 2016 Leduc RCMP attended a residence in the City of Leduc to assist Leduc Regional Child and Family Services with an Apprehension Order.  As a result of further information obtained during the course of this investigation, Leduc RCMP obtained a subsequent search warrant for the residence.  Numerous weapons were seized from the home; including prohibited firearms (e.g. a sawed-off shotgun), restricted and prohibited handguns, other rifles, other shotguns and ammunition.  Arrest warrants were issued for the homeowners, and on July 15th, 2016 at approximately 10:00 A.M. an adult male and female who cannot be named in accordance with the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act to protect the identities of children in the home, were arrested and taken into custody. Charges at this time include Possession of a Prohibited/Restricted firearm, Careless storage of a firearm, and a Breach of a Recognizance. The accused persons remain in custody and are awaiting a bail hearing. Leduc Regional Family Child and Family Services have taken two children into their care and continue to investigate the original complaint in this matter.
