The Leduc Rural Crime Watch Association, in partnership with the Leduc RCMP, will be providing free licence plate anti-theft security screw installations, on Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Leduc Recreation Centre, in the southeast parking lot, from 1 to 4 p.m.
“We, as a grassroots organization, are honoured to be partnering with the RCMP on this valuable crime prevention project,” said Leduc Rural Crime Watch in a release. “We welcome all members and non-members, urban and rural, to participate.”
“These anti-theft security screws, a set of locking bolts, can be installed on vehicles to reduce the likelihood that your licence plate is taken off your vehicle,” said Const. Cheri-Lee Smith, Leduc RCMP Community Policing Officer. “Using the screws will prevent thieves from using your plate on another vehicle, which then may be used in criminal activity.”
