UPDATE 2

At approximately 11:20 p.m., Highway 2 near the Highway 616 overpass was re-opened to northbound traffic, following a closure of the highway for several hours as a result of a collision involving two commercial vehicles.

The Leduc RCMP wish to thank motorists for their patience and cooperation during this highway closure.

UPDATE 1

Traffic WILL BE DIVERTED from Highway 2 to eastbound Secondary 616. The diversion is expected to take 2 to 3 hours.

Traffic will be diverted through Millet then north on Hwy 2A.

No one was injured in the traffic collision.

The closure will facilitate a safe work environment in order to clear the highway. An update will be provided once the highway has been cleared.

ORIGINAL STORY

Leduc, Alberta - Leduc RCMP are currently investigating a multi vehicle collision involving two semi-trucks about 15 kms south of Edmonton in the north bound lane.

Traffic is being diverted on to Highway 2a and is expected to be diverted for several hours while police investigate the collision.

No one was injured in the traffic collision.

The investigation continues.

An update will be provided once new information becomes available.
