The Maskwacis RCMP have arrested two suspects in an alleged kidnapping case and are seeking the public’s assistance to locate the third suspect.

On Aug. 13, the Maskwacis RCMP responded to a call for service on the Samson Cree Nation (SCN) where a female reported being kidnapped by multiple individuals and held against her will.

RCMP say the female was forced into a vehicle, threatened with her life, and a firearm was held to her head.

After some time, the female was able to break free from being restrained and fled to safety. She was treated for minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.

The police were able to identify three suspects quickly and took two of them into custody.

Richard Soosay, a 30-year-old male, and Amy Okeymow, a 37-year-old female, both from SCN, were charged with kidnapping with a firearm, forcible confinement and uttering threats.

Soosay faces additional charges of pointing a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a firearm while prohibited.

The Maskwacis RCMP are requesting the public’s assistance in locating the third and final suspect, Alexandra Raine, a 24-year-old female from the Maskwacis area. An arrest warrant has been issued for Raine who is facing charges including kidnapping with a firearm, forcible confinement, robbery, uttering threats and assault.

Raine is known to frequent the area of Maskwacis, but also Wetaskiwin and Edmonton.
