The Wetaskiwin/Maskwacis RCMP General Investigation Section with the Maskwacis Crime Reduction Unit have made an arrest and laid charges following an aggravated assault in Masckwacis.

On March 31, 2017, RCMP responded to a residence in the Samson Town Site following a physical altercation. Two adults had suffered stab wounds and were transported to hospitals, neither with life-threatening injuries.

Two suspects were identified and arrested by the RCMP. Following the investigation, which included the execution of two search warrants, 28-year-old Justin Simon has been charged with Aggravated assault (x2) and Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace. Simon appeared in the Provincial Court in Wetaskiwin to answer to these charges today.

The female who was initially identified as a suspect has been released with no charges.
