A popular music festival is returning to Millet this summer.
The Millet Acoustic Firefly Music Festival was started in 2013, by locals Braydon Sinclair-Smith, Lisa Schoening and Vicki Pyle, in memory of a local artist, Mike Gauthier, who lost his battle to thyroid cancer on May 16, 2013.
Mike was a man of many talents and was a very talented musician, he strongly believed that everyone should have their chance to shine, no matter what talent scale you were. He always encouraged people to follow their dreams in music and taught many his “tricks of the trade”.
He was very discouraged throughout his battle with cancer that there was not very much recognition of thyroid cancer out there, he educated those of us close to him about the disease and hoped that we would pass along the information for all those in the future who may be affected by it. This festival is to remember Mike, to raise awareness of thyroid cancer and to let anyone out there who wants to shine their talents, a chance to do so!
This year, in conjunction with Thyroid Cancer Canada, we are pleased to present our biggest and best festival ever, we are proud to bring to the stage county music artists Doc Walker and Shane Yellowbird! We will also have several food trucks on site, a beer garden and non-stop music from 1 p.m. to 1 a.m.! Tickets for the show will be $28 and will be available online soon!
We are currently seeking several sponsors and volunteers for the festival. All sponsors will be listed at the festival and recognized throughout the day. If you can volunteer some time, please message us on our Facebook site at Firefly Acoustic Music Festival. All volunteers receive free admission to the festival!
Stay tuned for more details! Until then, mark your calendars for Saturday, July 28, 2018!
