A 50-year-old woman from Montana First Nation was killed in a hit-and-run outside of Wekaskiwin on Thursday.
Police say that around 11:30 p.m. on May 1, they were dispatched to the scene of a reported fatal pedestrian hit-and-run on Highway 13. As a result of the investigation, the highway was closed for several hours. The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the K-Division Collision Analyst team and the Wetaskiwin General Investigation Unit.
RCMP are seeking to speak with anyone who travelled on Highway 13, West of the Wetaskiwin city limits on May 1, 2025, between the hours of 10:45 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., more specifically anyone who witnessed a pedestrian on the roadway in that location or who may have dashcam footage recorded during this time period.
