Ponoka RCMP investigate motorcycle fatality of local man

A Ponoka motorcyclist died of his injuries in hospital on July 13 after going off the road on Hwy. 792, just north of Hwy. 53 west on July 10.

The Ponoka RCMP responded to the scene shortly after 7:33 p.m. on July 10, along with Ponoka Traffic Services, EMS and STARS. The 56-year-old male from Ponoka, the lone rider on the motorcycle, was transported to an Edmonton hospital in critical condition and passed away in hospital a few days later.

It is unknown at this time why the motorcycle went off the road and into the ditch, and the collision remains under investigation by the RCMP. No updates are expected to be released.
