UPDATED RCMP raid in Wetaskiwin finds 200 cellphones

The Pipestone Flyer contacted Wetaskiwin RCMP Jan. 26 for an update on this file. Sgt. Corey Kyle stated in an email, “We did not add the names in the release. Our investigation is still ongoing on this. Once we have more information (or) charges we may complete a supplemental release.”

ORIGINAL STORY

On January 18, 2018 the Wetaskiwin Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) executed a search warrant on a residence in The City of Wetaskiwin.

Inside of the residence five people were arrested at the residence, two of which had outstanding warrants for varying property offences and failing to appear in court.

Items seized from the residence were restricted weapons and ammunition along with a multitude of knives and swords.

A large amount of electronics was located including; five televisions, 12 gaming consoles, 23 computers, and over 200 cell phones.

If the public has been victim to any thefts of any of the above items and have a detailed description with a serial number, please contact the Wetaskiwin RCMP.

Wetaskiwin RCMP are reminding the public to keep a list of serial numbers when possible for their electronics as this greatly assists in returning them to the rightful owners.
