Wetaskiwin RCMP have made an arrest in the break and enter at a local auto dealership.
According to Wetaskiwin RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Lauel Scott, “As a result of an investigation into a break and enter at the Legacy Dodge dealership, a 27-year-old male has been identified as the suspect, and charges have been laid.
“On May 17, the RCMP responded to a complaint of an early morning break-in. During the RCMP response, a shot was fired by the RCMP. The suspects were not located and an investigation utilizing the Forensic Identification Section, was launched. Leduc RCMP General Investigation Section has carriage of this investigation.”
Cpl. Scott stated Glen Primrose of no fixed address has been arrested. “Six charges have been laid against Primrose, including break and enter to a business, operation of a motor vehicle while being pursued by police, disguised with intent to commit offence, possession of stolen property over $5,000 and two counts of fail to comply with a probation order,” stated Scott.
Scott noted that a warrant for Primrose’s arrest was issued by the RCMP and he was arrested on May 23 by Calgary Police Service; Primrose is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court of Alberta in Red Deer on Tuesday, May 29, 2018.
Cpl. Scott added that ASIRT has taken carriage of the investigation into the discharge of the officer’s firearm and no further information will be provided by the RCMP.

An early morning incident at a Wetaskiwin auto dealership, including shots fired, has links to the entire region while police continue to search for the suspects.
According to RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Laurel Scott, “The RCMP in Wetaskiwin are searching for a male and female suspect following an early morning break and enter at the Legacy Dodge dealership.
“At 3:30 a.m., Wetaskiwin RCMP members responded to a complaint at the dealership. A masked male was seen outside of the dealership, and a pick-up truck with a female passenger was identified as involved. Circumstances resulted in the responding RCMP member discharging his firearm. The pick-up truck fled the area.
“A pursuit of the suspect truck was initiated by Maskwacis RCMP members, and later Ponoka RCMP members. The truck did not stop. The truck was later located abandoned and no occupants were located. It was determined that the truck was earlier stolen out of Nisku.”
Scott noted many resources are being focused on this incident. “The RCMP Forensic Identification Section along with Leduc GIS is assisting in the break and enter investigation. There continues to be a police presence at the dealership while different agencies investigate.
“ASIRT has taken carriage of the investigation in the discharge of the officer’s firearm. Given the involvement of ASIRT in this investigation, no further information will be provided by the RCMP. “
