Those looking for an exciting evening with little travel time involved should consider the R&R Rentals super late model Twin 100 series at Edmonton International Raceway Sat., Sept. 1.
The racers hail from Saskatoon, Sask.’s Western Speed Association Super Late Model Series, some of the highest-powered and most talented stock car drivers in Canada.
Located in the County of Wetaskiwin, EIR has been hosting top series racing all summer, including the recent NASCAR Pinty’s Series Luxxor 300. But the Super Late Model Series is special: these cars don’t have to follow NASCAR regulations and are more dynamic.
“These are real race cars,” said Herm Hordal, business development, EIR, to the Pipestone Flyer. “They are the next thing to the Canadian pro series, without a doubt.”
Hordal noted top drivers from western Canada and parts of the United States will compete in the second annual season of such racing at EIR.
He noted fans can expect to see fast-paced action, as 200 laps on EIR goes quickly when a lap is only 13 seconds long.
He said drivers need to stay out of trouble, keep their equipment under them and know whom they’re racing against. “You’re going to have to have some strategy if you want to be in the game,” added Hordal.
It should be noted the super late model series is a special event, so free passes won’t be accepted Sept. 1.
Also featured that night will be Future Stocks and Eclipse E-Line Legends cars.
Gates open at 4 p.m., racing starts at 6 p.m.
