Three repeat offenders from Camrose, Winfield and Drayton Valley charged

Truck stolen out of Ponoka recovered

A truck stolen out of Ponoka earlier this month has been recovered and three people charged in an investigation targeting repeat offenders in central Alberta.

The Central Alberta District (CAD) RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) investigation focused on subjects with outstanding property crimes and flight from police around the rural Breton area.

CAD CRU, in partnership with the Camrose City Police, RCMP Air Services and the RCMP Police Dog Service, was able to locate a person of interest identified in their investigation, in a stolen vehicle in Camrose.

The male suspect was with two other individuals at the time. The recovered truck had been stolen from Ponoka on June 10.

Murlin Scott Becker, 38, of Camrose, Morgan Bud Hansen, 26, of Winfield, and Stacey Anne Monteith, 49, from Drayton Valley, have all been charged with possession of property obtained by crime. Other charges include possession of methamphetamine and GHB

Following a judicial hearing, Becker was remanded into custody and is scheduled to attend Camrose Provincial Court on June 23, 2021. Hansen and Monteith have been released on conditions and are scheduled to attend Camrose Provincial Court on Aug. 4, 2021.

“The Central Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit will continue to identify and target prolific offenders within rural communities as part of our ongoing crime reduction strategy,” said Sergeant Scott Lande, Unit Commander of CAD CRU.
