Vehicle and oversize load collide near South Cooking Lake turnoff

UPDATE

Strathcona County, Alberta – On February 21, 2018 at approximately 6:35 p.m. Strathcona County RCMP and Strathcona County Emergency Services responded to a collision involving a vehicle and semi hauling an oversized load on Highway 14 near the South Cooking Lake turnoff.

The vehicle was travelling eastbound when it collided with the edge of the oversized load travelling westbound.

The lone occupant of the eastbound vehicle suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital by ambulance.

Traffic was diverted for several hours while the Strathcona County RCMP Traffic Services and RCMP Collision Analyst investigated.

Feb. 21 - Strathcona County RCMP are currently on scene of a serious injury motor vehicle collision. Due to the seriousness of the investigation, Highway 14 between Range Road 222 and Range Road 221 will be closed for at least the next two hours in order to conduct the investigation. Drugs or alcohol aren’t believed to be a factor in the collision.
