Wetaskiwin Community Transportation Society (WCTS) Adopts New Policies at AGM

Pipestone Flyer

On June 15th, 2011 WTCS changed how it will be doing business in the future by adopting new policies at their AGM. The intent is to provide better services with the following changes:

1. People who use WCTS are encouraged to purchase their ride tickets in advance at the present rate of $5.00 for a one-way trip. Under the new policy, anyone who insists on paying cash as they board a handi-van will find that WCTS will be charging a 20% service charge or $6.00 for a one-way trip.  WCTS is adamant they will only accept exact change ($6.00) as drivers are not equipped to make change

2. Punch cards are readily available. They can be purchased from the WCTS Office, Touchstone Place Clubhouse, Elite Audiotronics, Sobeys, Sunrise Village, Value Drug Mart, and the Wetaskiwin Hospital Gift Shop.  Monthly passes can be purchased from the WCTS Office.  Punch cards DO NOT have expiry dates.

3. To better serve clients in case of an emergency, WCTS will require everyone who rides WCTS (as an individual – this does not apply to charter bookings) to be registered with the WCTS effective January 1st, 2012. Registration will provide WCTS with pertinent contact and medical details enabling them to be better prepared in case of an emergency such as problems with the van or a medical incident. Registration forms will be distributed/sent out/available commencing Monday, October 3rd.

4. Beginning January 1st 2012, anyone who wishes to ride with WCTS (as an individual – this does not apply to charter bookings) must be a member of the WCTS.  Cost of an annual membership is $10.00.  Since WCTS is a subsidized service, membership will access to this (subsidized) benefit.  Membership will also provide members with a copy of the quarterly newsletter.

Anyone not having paid their annual membership fee by February 28th of each year will lose their riding privileges (regardless of whether they hold a valid punch card or monthly pass) until membership is paid in full.
