A pickup truck reported stolen from Edmonton has been recovered due to the efforts of the Wetaskiwin RCMP Crime Reduction Unity.

Officers spotted the truck on July 22, and began covertly following it in order to "coordinate its safe recovery."

While following it, a Wetaskiwin County Peace Officer attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, causing it to flee at high speed.

With assistance of Camrose City Police, the Leduc RCMP, and the Maskwacis RCMP, the vehicle was found abandoned but a suspect was located a short time later.

Isaiah Okeynan, 28, of Maskwacis has been charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Flight from Police
  • Dangerous Operation of motor vehicle
  • Drive while unauthorized

Okeynan was remanded into custody following a judicial hearing, with a court date set for Jan. 24, 2025, in Wetaskiwin.
