It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved dad, Bert. He passed away peacefully at the Wetaskiwin Hospital at the young age of 82.

Dad was born in Big Valley, Alberta to Edwin and Annie Thomas. He had a unique and beautiful relationship with all those he had the privilege of knowing, and he will be lovingly and dearly missed.

Bert is survived by his sister, Josephine; brother in law, Percy; sons, Wayne, Kelly and David; daughters, Saundra, Debra and Marlisle and their significant others; seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; and his extended family, Brent, Shirley, Billy, George, Cora, JaLynn, and their families to name a few.

Bert met numerous friends while doing what he enjoyed - being a long haul truck driver, his passion. He also loved horses, and enjoyed and cherished every moment of his time with the thoroughbreds, standardbreds during their seasons, and the rodeo and chuck wagon season. During these times, it was "do not disturb".

Pops' request was to be cremated, with no services.

The family is grateful to the staff, nurses and doctors at the Wetaskiwin Hospital for their devoted care of our father.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wetaskiwin Hospital Foundation, Heart & Stroke Foundation, or to the Alberta Diabetes Foundation.

"Live, Love Laugh Cry not for me, for at least I am free, Remember me with grace, For I am in a much better place." Thanks to all for the memories, it has been a pleasure and an enjoyable journey. Keep on truckin'!
