March 8, 1922 - December 24, 2021
Bert was born in the home of his parents in Wetaskiwin on March 8, 1922, with his Grandmother as the midwife who delivered him. Bert spent Grades 1-9 at Haultain school and 10-12 at the Alexander High School in Wetaskiwin. He served with the RCAF from 1942-1945. Then Bert came back to the family farm and purchased the adjacent quarter which made a viable living to raise his family. Bert and his son Delwyn were awarded an Alberta Century Farm and Ranch Award in 2014 for farming on the original farmland for over 100 years. Bert was involved in his community and church activities. In 1990 Bert and Vivian moved to Wetaskiwin where he resided until his passing. Bert lived life to the fullest, enjoying family, and sports (curling, golfing-even a hole-in-one) and being the pitcher on numerous ball teams. His team was the winner of many gold medals at the Senior Games. Bert and Vivian traveled to every province in Canada except Newfoundland, over 30 American States, 5 different Continents and 6 cruises. Their ultimate cruise was taking their children and spouses to Alaska in 2010, it was a wonderful trip enjoyed by everyone.
Bert passed on the morning of Christmas Eve surrounded by his loving family, with his wife holding his hand. He will be forever loved by his family as he lives in their hearts until eternity. Bert is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Vivian of 70 years. Bert was a wonderful and loving Father to his four children: Delwyn (Carmen), Valerie (Garry), Byron (Judy), and Nadene (Jeff). Bert's ten grandchildren absolutely adored and loved him dearly, Tony (Elisha), Tyler (Denise); Michael (Suzy), Elyse (Connor); Mathew, Dylan (Sophia); Justene (KC), Joel, Madison, and Emily. Including nine great-grandchildren Austin, Jayde, Bryce, Brodie, Ellie Mae, Harper, Ruthie, Everly, and Oaklynn.
A private family funeral was held on Friday December 31, 2021, at the Malmo Covenant Church with Pastor Randall Friesen officiating. If friends or relatives so desire, a donation may be made directly to Covenant Bay Bible Camp (covenantbay.ca) in memory of Bert Weaver.
