March 12, 1945 - September 8, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, Claudia Wagner, from cancer on September 8th, 2022.
Claudia was born in Edmonton, Alberta, on March 12, 1945 and lived her early years in small towns around the Edmonton area with her parents and sister Cecilia. She married her high school sweetheart Larry Wagner in 1964, and together they settled into the farming life close to Millet where they raised four children.
She enjoyed working in her garden and caring for the farm animals. After the children were raised and gone, she followed her passion for reading and volunteering at the Millet library, eventually becoming the librarian for several years at the new Millet library.
After retiring to Wetaskiwin, she continued her volunteer work at victim services and also worked at the gift shop at the Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre. She eventually moved to Edmonton, where she continued her volunteer work at the Edmonton Museum and the General Hospital gift shop.
Her last few years were spent travelling, doing jigsaw puzzles, attending the Citadel theatre, as well as visits from her children and grandchildren, and caring for her special cat Marbles.
She was predeceased by her husband Larry in 1994, and daughter Tracy in 1987.
She is a survived by her three children, three grandchildren and her only sister: Kirk (Charlene and family), Kathy (Paul Frasca) and grandchildren Carley, Jared and Kyle Frasca; son Troy, and sister Cecilia (Jim) Malcolm.
A celebration of Claudia's life will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Millet Royal Canadian Legion Branch 229 (5156 50 Ave, Millet, Alberta, T0C 1Z0). Everyone is welcome. If desired, memorial donations can be made to the Cross Cancer Institute (11560 University Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta, T6G 1Z2).
