Delores was born in Leduc, on April 16, 1934 to Ludwig and Lydia Schmidt. She married Bernard Genz on January 5, 1955. They raised four children, Laura, Charlotte, Kevin and Karen, on the family farm, which was one mile southwest of Wetaskiwin.
In 1984, they moved to the city of Wetaskiwin, and in 1986 Bernard passed away. Delores met Duncan MacDonald and they were married in 1994. Together, they lived in Red Deer, and Duncan passed away in 2014.
Four years later, Delores returned to Wetaskiwin and lived at Seasons Retirement Home.
With sadness, the family announces that Delores passed away on July 10, 2021 at the age of 87 years. Dolores is survived by her children, Laura Cavanaugh, Charlotte (Lloyd) Watt, Kevin (Donna) Genz and Karen Genz; nine grandchildren, Kimberly (Craig) Nicholas, Alana (Russell) Sidor, Megan (Mark) Crossey, Steven Lange, Sheryl Lange, Shelby Lange (Sami), Tyler (Paula) Halak, Sonya Halak, Brandon (Christine) Malo; six great-grandchildren, Lydia, Bennett, Mikayla, Kenton, Brohden, Padder; brother, Roy (Mabel) Schmidt; sister, Carol Kokas; sisters-in-law, Myrtle Schmidt and Aileen George as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
Delores was predeceased by her parents, Ludwig and Lydia Schmidt; her husbands, Bernard Genz and Duncan MacDonald; brother, Ken Schmidt and her brother-in-law, Ed Kokas.
A funeral service was held on Sunday, July 18, 2021 at Baker Funeral Chapel, Wetaskiwin, Alberta. Donations in Delores' memory are gratefully accepted to the charity of one's choice.
