May 23, 1946 - July 21, 2022
Harland "Harley" Louis Scorah, born May 23, 1946, and died July 21, 2022. Leaves behind his wife, partner, and friend of over 50 years, Elaine; sons, Harley (Tara), Jason (Sherri); and grandchildren, Samantha, Brendan, Kiren and Greyson.
Dad spent his working career in the oil and gas industry, either driving and operating a tanker truck, or through his 20 plus years at Northwestern Utilities/ATCO Gas. His strong work ethic taught his sons and family about responsibility and sacrifice.
Even though he always seemed to be at work, Dad enjoyed league five-pin bowling and darts with Mom and had coached Youth bowling and hockey when we were growing up.
Later in life he would often remind us boys to take more time from working and enjoy our families more.
Dad was quick to make acquaintances and had a gift for conversations. It was often surprising how many people seemed to know Dad! He came across as strong, quiet, and reserved in larger groups, and mostly kept his feelings personal. The private conversations were the times when he let his true feelings be known.
He had a quirky sense of humor and wasn't afraid to throw out the quips and one-liners, getting us all to smile and relax. He made sure his grandkids knew he loved them, offering advice or opinions when asked, attending cadet functions, graduations, and visits in the hospital.
The quiet "don't tell your Mother" gifts, even though she always knew, the Sunday morning coffee calls before his walk, and playful smirks will be missed by his kids and grandkids.
