August 29, 1942 - May 6, 2020
Honouring the Life of Noreen Helen Kate Brittain.
Noreen was born at home in Falun, AB on August 29, 1942 to Michael John and Wena Noreen Klein. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 56 years Elden "Joe", her brother Tyrone and sister Leona. She is survived by her sister Mavis (Dennis), her three sons and their families; Kelly (Colleen), Kerry (Bonnie), Dale (Sandy), her seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; most of them still living in the Falun area where they were raised.
She met Elden "Joe" Arthur Brittain from Delburne, AB and they were married in 1961 at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Ma-Me-O Beach. They purchased the farm at Falun where she grew up, from Noreen's parents in 1967. They raised three boys; Kelly, Kerry and Dale. Noreen looked after the farm and the boys while Joe often worked away on the oil rigs or later when he was driving milk truck. She would milk the cows, clean the barn and tend to the other animals and farm chores. She later worked part-time for 4 years at the local cabbage factory.
She always planted a large garden and put up a variety of canning, pickling and jams which she liked to share with her family. Noreen enjoyed cutting the grass and had an impressive green thumb, growing many plants and flowers (most memorable were her enormous bleeding-heart plants)! She took a great deal of pride in her well-kept yard, garden and home. Noreen had a tender heart for animals (especially for cats and dogs), which were always spoiled with countless treats. Her fondness for watching birds ensured her feeders were always full. She crocheted blankets and doilies and liked listening to CFCW on the radio or watching sports or country music shows on tv. She always looked forward to spending time with her family and friends.
Noreen passed away on May 6, 2020 after a short-lived battle with cancer, surrounded by her family.
