November 10, 2020
Peter Anthony Muraca passed away peacefully on November 10, 2020 in Wetaskiwin, Alberta at the age of 93 years. Peter grew up in Fernie BC and always had a love for the mountains and fishing.
He was a long term resident of Wetaskiwin and was well known for his association with Muraca Sand and Gravel. Many foundations for homes, barns, and business in the area were the result of Peter's labour. He also worked with the Edmonton International Airport and was part of the maintenance ground crew.
He was usually the first snowplough to go out, with the rest of the crew following Peter. The greatest love that he did have in life was that of his wife and family.
Peter is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Marie; son, Douglas (Doris); daughter, Jacalyn (Terry); grandchildren, Angela (Kyle) King, Alicia (Adam) Niehaus, Laura (Evan) Phillips, Jessica (Don) Russell, and Raeann Hanson; great-grandchildren, Jemma, Greyson, Eva, Oliver and Mason; sisters, Rose Gallegos and Frances Bish - both of Mercer, Pennsylvania, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Santos and Christina Muraca; brothers-in-law, Ceasur Gallegos, Dale Bish as well as his niece, Henrietta.
A private family service was held at the Wetaskiwin Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted to the Wetaskiwin Health Foundation or to Peace Hills Lodge.
