On the morning of February 29, 2020 people gathered—from as far as Calgary, Airdie, Sherwood Park, and Edmonton as well as from almost every community across Central Alberta, to support Lakedell School through the Second Annual Sledz and Treadz Poker Rally.

The Ma-Me-O Beach Community Hall was filled with positive energy and excitement emanating from the volunteers and the riders!

The rally kicked off at Ma-Me-O Beach Community Hall. The route for snowmobiles, quads, and side-by-sides was around the picturesque shores of Pigeon Lake. Volunteers had set up unique and welcoming stations to greet the 167 machines that toured the five stops: Ma-Me-O, Mulhurst Bay, Mission Beach, Pigeon Lake Provincial Park, and Grandview. 208 participants donated toward 323 poker hands.

The proceeds raised will be donated to the Lakedell School and the Lakedell School Parent Fundraising Committee. Lakedell School has 96 students from kindergarten to grade 6 and is a small rural school located near The Village at Pigeon Lake. The funds will support: student experiences such as in-school presentations, Alien In-Line skating, swimming lessons, skiing trips, field trips, science presentations via the University of Alberta Discover-E program, a possible artist residence, and for items such as extra gym equipment, learning tools (books and supplies), school beautification, and breakfast and lunch programs.
