This recipe was given to me by a good friend Dorothy it is a very large recipe. Don’t make on your own. This is the kind of recipe that you do with a friend or your children or grandchildren. This makes several dozen doughnuts. They freeze very well.

Ingredients:

12 eggs

3 cups sugar

3 cups mazola oil

9 cup water

1 1/2 Tablespoons salt

3 package yeast

2 cup lukewarm water

Flour to make a soft dough.

Instructions:

Add 2 tsp. Sugar to 2 cup warm water and sprinkle yeast over. Let stand for 15 minutes.

Mix sugar, oil, salt , slightly beaten eggs into 7 cups water which is lukewarm. Add soaked yeast. Mix in flour 2 cups at a time mixing them in until you get a soft dough , knead well until double in bulk. Punch down and let rise again. After second rising make your doughnuts and let them rise and fry.

When making doughnuts with a doughnut cutter, there are all those holes. If you reuse them they become tough . Don’t use a cutter. Cut them with a glass then put your thumbs through the centre and lightly shape them. They won’t be perfect circles but they will be eaten and enjoyed. I used to use my empty ice cream containers to freeze them in and they worked great.
