Tomato soup cake

A old family favorite, moist and spicy. Ice with your favorite icing or serve with whipped cream.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter or margarine

1 cup sugar 1 large egg

1 1/2 cups all purpose flour

1/2 tsp. Cinnamon

1/2 tsp. Nutmeg

1/2 tsp. Cloves

1/2 tsp. Salt

1 cup raisins (optional)

3/4 cup walnuts (optional)

1 tsp. Baking soda

2 tsp. Hot water

10 oz. Condensed tomato soup

Instructions:

Cream margarine and sugar together in large bowl. Add egg and beat well.

Measure flour, cinnamon,nutmeg, salt, raisins and walnuts into small bowl. Mix thoroughly.

Combine baking soda and hot water in small cup. Mix well. Stir into tomato soup in small small bowl. Add tomato soup mixture to sugar mixture in two parts alternatively with flour mixture. Turn into greased 9 x13 inch. Bake in 325 degree oven for 35 to 45 minutes until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool. Cuts into 18 pieces.
